Crédit Agricole structures its range of bank cards around four packaged offers (Eko, Essentiel, Premium, Prestige) and standalone cards linked to the Mastercard and Visa networks. The main trap for a subscriber remains the price variability between regional branches, which can render any national comparison obsolete.
Prices by regional branch: the parameter that comparators ignore
Crédit Agricole operates with autonomous regional branches. Each branch freely sets its card fees, account maintenance charges, and transaction commissions. Two customers holding the same Mastercard Gold in two different departments do not pay the same annual fee.
We recommend consulting the tariff information document from your branch before any subscription. This standardized document, mandated by European regulations, details line by line the actual fees applicable locally. It is accessible on the website of each branch or at the agency.
Online comparators most often display the rates of a single branch (often Île-de-France). A difference of several dozen euros per year on a Gold or Visa Premier is not unusual from one region to another. Before comparing Crédit Agricole bank cards, make sure the displayed amounts correspond to your branch.

Immediate or deferred debit: real impact on cash management
All cards in the Crédit Agricole range (excluding prepaid cards and Mozaïc Withdrawal) offer the choice between immediate debit and deferred debit. This choice is not trivial, and the subscription fee may vary depending on the option chosen.
Deferred debit groups all payments of the month into a single withdrawal, usually at the end of the month. The cash flow gain is real, but it masks the actual available balance in the Ma Banque app if the holder does not monitor their spending.
Immediate debit, coupled with balance control, remains the safest configuration to avoid overdrafts. On entry-level cards (Mastercard Standard, Visa Classic), immediate debit with balance control blocks any transaction beyond the available balance. This mechanism protects against transaction fees, charged per operation in case of an overdraft.
Which mode for which profile
- Immediate debit with balance control: strict budget profile, young professionals, accounts without authorized overdraft. The automatic blocking avoids any spiral of fees.
- Immediate debit without balance control: standard profile, negotiated authorized overdraft at the agency. Payments go through even if the balance is insufficient, within the limit of the overdraft.
- Deferred debit: profile with irregular income or advanced business expenses. The cash flow delay can reach several weeks depending on the purchase date within the month.
Eko offer from Crédit Agricole: the real conditions of free service
The Eko offer displays €0 per month and includes a classic virtual Mastercard activated upon subscription. On paper, it is the cheapest banking offer in the traditional market. In practice, several cost items deserve to be identified.
The physical card is not included in the basic offer. It is charged as an optional monthly fee. For a customer who regularly withdraws from the ATM or pays at merchants that do not accept mobile contactless payments, this option becomes almost mandatory.
Account and smartphone insurance is also an optional paid service. In contrast, the Essentiel or Premium offers include these components in their monthly package. The actual cost of Eko with a physical card and insurance can approach that of the Essentiel offer, depending on the regional branch.
Inactivity of the virtual card
Fees may apply if the virtual card remains unused for 30 consecutive days. This point concerns customers who open an Eko account as a secondary account without using it actively. We recommend setting up a recurring withdrawal, even a minimal one, to avoid this charge.

Insurance and limits: what really distinguishes the Mastercard and Visa ranges
The Gold Mastercard and Visa Premier cards share a similar pricing position, but their travel insurance guarantees are not strictly identical. The level of coverage for civil liability abroad, medical reimbursement limits, and the conditions for activating the guarantees (payment for transport with the card) vary from one network to another.
In the high-end range, the World Elite Mastercard and Visa Infinite include concierge services, extensive insurance (trip cancellation, flight delay, lost luggage) and significantly higher payment and withdrawal limits. These cards are aimed at clients whose monthly flows justify the subscription fee.
- Mastercard Standard / Visa Classic: foreign payment fees and fixed fees per withdrawal outside the euro zone. No travel insurance included.
- Gold Mastercard / Visa Premier: travel insurance activated by payment for transport, higher withdrawal and payment limits, medical assistance for repatriation.
- World Elite / Visa Infinite: concierge service, coverage extended to companions, the highest withdrawal and payment limits in the range.
Features of the Ma Banque app in card selection
Crédit Agricole has accelerated the dematerialization of card management via the Ma Banque app. Real-time blocking and unblocking, limit adjustments, immediate opposition, mobile payment activation: these features are available regardless of the card range.
Since the end of August 2026, parents can open a Livret A directly from the app and activate mobile payment for children from the age of 10. This evolution changes the game for families who hesitated between the Mozaïc card and an account in a neobank for minors.
The comparison between cards should no longer be limited to price and insurance. Access to real-time management features from the app constitutes a criterion in its own right, especially for holders who travel or manage multiple cards on the same account.
